At least OK can build their cities on a proper grid. Its like the Dallas city planners thought, “Y’know what would be great? Lets make the southern half of the city turn 45 degrees east….that’d fix the traffic problems”.

Perhaps if you weren’t on I-35 the whole time you could comment on the roadS…but for now, I’ll accept your opinion on the only one you were on. =D

Also the study was commissioned by a pro-homeschooling group, a.k.a. an extremely biased source. And my Okie children, ages 8 and 6, respectively, both answered the question correctly and then looked at me like *I* was the moron for asking such an easy question.

I’m a native Californian and would move back in a heartbeat but Oklahoma is not THAT bad, and it makes me laugh to see people from freaking Texas, Nebraska and similar states slamming it. Yeah….pot, meet kettle.

As someone that has lived in almost every state in this country. All freaking states have road work. Flat states are cool, at least you don’t get sick going on winding up and down hilly roads. And, Oklahoma people are the best. They are friendly, they wave to you even though they don’t know you. I went to school there, and I know who the freaking first president is (GW). At least they made a law stating that if your an illegal they would ship your bottom back to where you came from.

I have to defend both places, even though I’m Texan, born and raised. Though I lived in Oklahoma for two years. If you think Oklahoma is flat you haven’t been to the SE part of Oklahoma, in the Ouchita Mountains, you haven’t taken the drive from Tallahina, Ok to Mina, Ark and been up of the mountain where the Queen Willomina Lodge is. Sure, they may look more like hills than mountains, but they are old and part of the Ozarks..

If you think Texas is flat, you’re wrong, you’ve got the hill country in central Texas, and if you drive down toward Big Bend National park you have the mountains of the southern section of the rockies, the guardalupe mountains, and over towards El paso you have the Franklin mountains.. So, neither place is as flat as people tend to believe.

I also read this article and noted it said there were similar issues like this in Arkansas, if I remember right, but I would go out on a limb and say about every state in the US would have similar numbers as most kids are more worried about Bakagon instead of History nowadays.

Oklahoma is flatter than Texas? Are you kidding? Try the drive from El Paso to Ft. Worth. I wanted to shoot myself in the face. I’ve lived in both states, and Oklahoma is by far the prettier of the two.

As far as roads, you have to be kidding. You can’t drive through Texas without some kind of construction. And don’t even get me started on how horribly Dallas posts signs for highways and exits. I’ve driven all over both states, and I’d much rather drive in Oklahoma than Texas.

Why is Oklahoma so windy? Because Texas sucks and Kansas blows.

What’s wrong with OK? I enjoyed the 10hr drive from Dallas to Albuquerque better than the 5hr drive from Dallas to Tulsa. The roads in OK suck! Not only are they not paved correctly but they have “road work ahead” signs everywhere and never any road work. There are other reasons other people hate the state, but the roads are my main problem.
